A late comeback bid fell just short as Kendall dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to visiting Wheatland-Chili this evening in a key Genesee Region League battle between undefeated division leaders.

Trailing 4-1 in the second half, Kendall got two goals from Maya Rutland, both off assists from Taylor Rutland, to cut the deficit to one but the Lady Eagles could not net the game winner.

W-C had jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the game on goals by Taylor Ghysel and Hannah Callaghan.

The visitors advantage jumped to 3-0 midway through the half on a goal by Morgan Franklin.

Kendall answered back with a goal by Maya Rutland, off an assist from Marisa Hanlon. However, the Lady Eagles just missed on three more big scoring chances before half-time and trailed 3-1 at the break.

W-C upped the lead to 4-1 early in the second half on a goal by Callaghan before Kendall staged the late rally as the Taylor Rutland to Maya Rutland combination clicked twice.

Kendall, which leads Division 1, is now 8-1 in the league and 9-1 overall.
